One more question

You've said you're not doing any updates, just creating new documents.

But are you also deleting existing documents?

I'm asking for three reasons:

First, I want to know if you could be updating instead of deleting and doing a mass re-import. If you can only update the documents that need to be updated, that can be much faster.

Second, if you are deleting documents, then you could be building up a huge number of deletion stubs, and that can slow things down.

Third, if you are not deleting documents, how many total documents are there in the database before you start the import??
